Virtium’s StorFly® M.2 NVMe Industrial SSDs are designed for the unique capacity, workload and product longevity requirements of a broad range of embedded systems. As rugged storage solutions, StorFly M.2 NVMe products are specifically designed for harsh environments prone to high and low temperatures, shock and vibration, and even inconsistent power sources.

These SSDs are particularly well-suited for use in robotics, transportation, and process monitoring, as well as in the telecommunications and networking sectors that are heavily focused on the rapidly expanding 5G and optical networking markets.

StorFly® Series 3 Industrial-grade BiCS5 M.2 NVMe SSD platforms. These new drives are among the industry’s first industrial-grade BiCS5 gTLC (true industrial grade) storage solutions, which include full cross-temp (-40°C to 85°C) characterization and an option for pseudo-SLC (pSLC) support for extended endurance and long-term lifecycles. The StorFly Series 3 SSDs are designed to deliver consistent performance over their product life, capacity, and full industrial temperature range in both standard and extended endurance (XE) configurations. The platforms support M.2 2230, 2242 and 2280 NVMe with PCIe Gen3x4 interface with capacity ranges from 16GB to 1TB.

StorFly Series 6 M.2 NVMe SSDs are designed for more data-intensive and mixed-workload applications. Drive capacities range from 240GB to 1920GB – all within the 2280mm form factor.

StorFly M.2 NVMe offers a variety of solutions to meet the varied requirements of Industrial IoT applications including small form factors, low power, industrial temperature (-40ºC to +85ºC) operating temperatures, consistent performance over the life of the drive, and low to high capacities for applications ranging from simple booting to heavier data-logging and mixed-use workloads. Integrated power-fail protection, data security, and remote management capabilities round out the solutions.

StorFly Series 3 M.2 NVMe SSDs are designed for boot, code storage, and light data-logging applications. These SSDs offer lower cost by using DRAM-less designs with industry standard M.2 2280 (22x80mm) and 2242 (22x42mm) formats.

The architecture enables the SSDs to deliver the highest throughput-per-watt and best steady-state performance compared to other industrial-grade SSDs over wide temperature ranges.

Series 3 M.2 NVMe SSDs are ideally suited to industrial applications prone to temperature extremes that require a low power/heat solution that still delivers adequate capacity and performance for many industrial PC and control unit applications, including robotics, transportation, and monitoring – as well as telecommunications and networking applications focused on the 5G and optical networking explosion.

Applications

StorFly M.2 SSDs are designed to deliver high performance in a small form factor for many of today’s space-constrained system requirements. They are particularly well-suited for the broad range of embedded infrastructure applications that Virtium servers, including communications equipment, industrial automation, transportation control, defense, medical imaging, data logging, and security/surveillance systems.
