Supporting Data-demanding Industrial-embedded Applications
Solid-state storage capacity in embedded-industrial applications must adhere to a unique set of principles. Deploying solid-state drives in enterprise data-centers and high-end client computing typically places a priority on maximum storage. In contrast, SSDs used in demanding embedded applications – oil and gas exploration, Industrial IoT (IIoT), and military/aerospace, for example – require a diverse array of features: built-in ruggedness; industrial temperature (I-Temp) support; data protection, such as through SSD encryption; long lifecycles that ensure drive/system reliability; and capacity that’s optimal for each application.
Virtium is leading the charge by building industrial-grade SSDs with the maximum amount of capacity as the overall environment will allow – without sacrificing data integrity. Use the Product Selector to locate a specific SSD and its datasheet.

Overview
Data generation continues to expand exponentially everywhere and the industrial-embedded spectrum is no exception – making higher-capacity drives with all of the industrial-grade robustness absolutely essential. Systems designed for those demanding applications are collecting far more critical data than in the past. An aviation system, for example, can generate more than two petabytes of data during a single cross-country flight – thus the need for much higher capacities with extreme environmental tolerance.
For more than two decades, Virtium has addressed all areas of demanding industrial-embedded applications with deployed solutions for leading manufacturers around the world. Our SATA and NVMe SSDs are built both with capacities closely aligned with customers’ distinct storage needs and the drives’ ability to withstand environmental extremes through I-Temp support and ruggedization, enabling product lifecycles of up to ten years. We make the drives only with industrial-grade components that pass strict testing guidelines. Those components are then integrated into rugged board designs managed by sophisticated firmware that can monitor and manage SSDs under virtually any environmental circumstance.
Higher capacities continue to feed into the formula, along with extreme environmental iTemp, shock and vibration support. And Virtium is leading the charge by building industrial-grade SSDs with the maximum amount of capacity as the overall environment will allow – without sacrificing data integrity.
