ECC SORDIMM, NON ECC-DDR SODIMM, ECC SO DIMM, SOCDIMM, DDR3
JEDEC balloted and passed the Jedec Task Group proposal (sponsored by Virtium) for the connector pin out and specification body for the DDR3 72b-ECC-SODIMM family of designs. Virtium currently leads the Task Group as the first generation of 1GB/2GB 72b-ECC-SODIMM and 72b-ECC-SORDIMM modules have moved from simulation into the pcb routing phases of these projects. Virtium is collaborating with both OEM’s like Intel and Freescale to meeting technical milestones and releasing these designs to production.August 16, 2007

For ATCA and microATCA, it is quite compelling that perhaps the new Flash on board technology overall could emerge as the next evolutionary products and as the storage media of choice in terms of higher functionality & density, best reliability & non-volatility, faster access speed, lighter in weight, and most of all for its compactness that meets the form factor constraints. Logic would suggest that AMC with Flash technology “fits the bill” as the evolutionary technology for the ATCA applications.
