Phan Hoang, VP of Research and Development

Phan Hoang is instrumental in charting Virtium’s product development strategy and helps customers to competitively position their products.  With more than a decade of experience in small form factor memory module design, Phan supports customers with architecting, signal simulation for high density applications, innovative thermal management techniques and maximizing system socket memory density.

Phan’s experience is enhanced by his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management/Marketing and his technical training in Computer Electronics Engineering Technology. He has developed multiple innovations that have been awarded patents in the areas of TSOP, BGA stacking of DRAM components and multi-function modules.  Phan actively leads industry standardization efforts with JEDEC and has successfully incorporated ECC feature in the small form factor memory module for embedded systems. He also chaired SFF-SIG standards committee to commercialize rugged memory module, achieving an industry first rugged memory module which incorporated the multi-function modules concept and combined flash and DRAM into a single space-saving module.
